Farm Bureau Wants Congress To Approve TPA

The White House will push for fast track or trade promotion authority during the next Congress. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says that’s critical for advancing important trade agreements such as the Trans Pacific and Trans Atlantic deals. He says the economic welfare of the country depends on it.
Trade Promotion authority allows the President to negotiate trade agreements with just an up or down vote by Congress. Dux says that’s very important to the process and necessary so that those deals don’t get slowed down or stopped in their tracks.
While the incoming Republican majority in Congress likes TPA, it will require 218 votes in the House and 60 in the Senate to avoid a filibuster.
