The Environmental Protection Agency and US Army Corps of Engineers are starting the process of taking input on their rewrite of the Waters of the U.S. rule. They’ve set dates for the input sessions The meetings will run virtually from August 18 to the 31 and on September 2. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says his group will be very engaged in the process and will be making comments.

He says the goal is to make sure the EPA and Corps doesn’t come up with a rewrite that includes more stringent regulations.

VanderWal says the new rule must be clear and producers need to know what exactly is required of them to protect the nation’s waters.

To register for the input meetings and to make written comments you can log onto epa.gov/wotus.
