Farm Bureau Supports Legislation To Make Tax Cuts Permanent

The American Farm Bureau Federation is supporting a House Republican Bill that would make permanent several changes included in last year’s tax reform package. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Director Jordan Dux says when last year’s legislation was approved, most of the tax breaks were only made temporary and his group believes making them permanent will benefit farmers and ranchers.

He says making permanent the unlimited bonus depreciation contained in the tax reform package would be helpful for both small businesses and farmers and ranchers.

Dux says it may take some time to get tax reform 2.0 passed as Congress is dealing with several issues yet this year including an election coming up in November.

Many of the tax breaks contained in the 2017 legislation will sunset meaning higher rates later for farmers ranchers if those provisions aren’t made permanent.
