A coalition of leading business groups including the American Farm Bureau Federation are not giving up on trying to get Congress and the President to address immigration reform. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says agriculture needs a reliable labor force and without it, food production will go off shore.
Dux says the only real possibility before next year is trying to get something done in the House during the lame duck session after the November election.
Dux says not only is ag labor needed through a reform measure but the country’s border security must be addressed. His group and others are urging the President and Congress to work together to achieve that.
