Farm Bureau Signs MOU With Minority Agriculture Group

The American Farm Bureau is broadening its diversity. A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Farm Bureau with the National Society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences. AFBF Vice President Scott VanderWal serves as the President of the South Dakota Farm Bureau. He says having this MOU in place fits well with his group’s policy.

He says by working with the Minority Ag Group, Farm Bureau has added to its diversity.

VanderWal says it only makes sense to have minorities involved with Farm Bureau as many jobs in agriculture are being done by minorities and immigrant labor such as with dairies, meat packing plants and custom harvest operators.

Farm Bureau and the National Society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences will be collaborating on projects which include written content for each groups’ publications, grow leadership training and cross promote programs and events.
