The Davison and Hanson County Farm Bureau groups recently received a $5,000 grant from the South Dakota Farm Bureau’s Centennial Initiative. The county groups then kicked in a thousand dollars themselves and put the total of $6,000 to purchase computer tablets for ag education. Farm Bureau’s Cindy Foster says since Mid May the tablets have been on display in the Education Center in the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
She says the tablets have been used by both young people and adults and connected many of those far removed from the farms and ranches to agriculture.
Foster says they plan to loan their tablets to some area schools in order to expand agricultural education to even more people.
Foster says besides the ag education they’re providing with the tablets, the farm bureau’s women’s leadership team will be at the South Dakota State Fair on Saturday from 10 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. at the FFA building teaching young people about agriculture.
