Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue testified in front of the State Legislature’s Revenue Committee this week. He says the main message he gave to State Senators is that property tax relief, and tax reform must remain priorities for the legislature.

Revenue Committee Chair Lou Ann Linehan introduced LR 22CA at the request of the Governor to address the property tax problem. McHargue says while that may be part of the solution it won’t provide the necessary relief for Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers.

He says the main solution that State Senators need to look at is broadening Nebraska’s Tax base.

McHargue thanks Governor Ricketts and Senator Linehan for immediately putting the property tax issue back in front of the legislature at a time when some believe the issue has been addressed.
