The House Agriculture Appropriations sub-committee has approved the fiscal year 2021 agricultural appropriations bill without adding any amendments. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says on the surface it appears to have some positive components in it to help farmers and ranchers.

He says it’s positive sub-committee members included expansion broadband internet access in the legislation.

VanderWal says he’s pleased there’s help for meat processors in the measure that loosens some regulations.
The total discretionary funding in the bill is $23.98 billion, an increase of $487 million above the fiscal year 2020 enacted level.
