Progress is being made on the new farm bill as the Senate is set to markup their version today with the House expected to take another run at it June 22. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal is pleased with how the Senate is proceeding.
He says his group’s members want some small changes made to wetlands and swamp buster provisions of the farm bill.
VanderWal says the major change that needs to be made is to fix the appeals process.
VanderWal is optimistic once both Houses pass the farm bill that they’ll be able to come to agreement on a final measure yet this year.
