The implementation of the U.S. Mexico Canada trade agreement or USMCA takes effect on Wednesday. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says agricultural products will begin moving between the three countries once the implementation is in effect.

He says having the USMCA in place is positive for all three nations that have been dealing with the negative impacts of the pandemic.

VanderWal says he’s hopeful the USMCA will be a model for post pandemic trade deals going forward.

Mexico’s President will be in Washington DC this week to celebrate the USMCAs official implementation and meet with President Donald Trump. He’s also expected to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
