The results from Tuesday’s election shows quite a bit of support in Iowa for agriculture and for the policy of the Iowa Farm Bureau. President Craig Hill says most of those elected share his group’s viewpoint on several agricultural issues.

He says his group is pleased to see those elected and re-elected being positive for farmers and ranchers going forward including Joni Ernst returning to the Senate, Randy Feenstra taking over for Steve King in the House, Ashley Hinson going to the House replacing Abby Finkenauer.

Hill says the loss of the chairmen on both the Senate and House Agriculture Committees will be felt in farm country. He also says the shift to more urban members of Congress serving on the Ag Committees will continue.

He says the other positive election result for agriculture is Cindy Axne winning re-election to the House as she’s served farmers and ranchers well there.
