Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton this week vetoed the tax and supplemental funding bills after earlier vetoing the Ag policy bill. State Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap was disappointed with the Governor’s decision. He says without passage of the tax bill there’s no conformity between state and federal taxes and that will hurt farmers and urban people alike.
Will that veto mean higher taxes for the state’s farmers and ranchers. Paap says that is yet to be determined but without approval of the tax legislation that leaves several problems.
Paap says they’ll have to wait until the next legislative session in order to get any resolution on these ag issues.
Paap says they’re hoping to convince the Governor not to veto the bonding bill which provides money for the Rural Finance Authority to help beginning farmers and also provides funding for transportation.
