North Dakota Farm Bureau leaders are pleased the two candidates running for state tax commissioner support property tax relief. Incumbant Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger recently unveiled his plan to increase state funded property tax relief from $ 857 million to $1.36 billion in the next two years. North Dakota Farm Bureau President Doyle Johannes likes the idea and says his group has supported property tax relief for a number of years.
Johannes says property taxes have been a burden for everyone, ag and non ag interests alike.
Rauschenberger also proposes expanding the homestead tax credit from $ 20 million to $ 50 million. Johannes says that would really help people on fixed incomes.
