Nebraska Farm Bureau members advanced resolutions at the national convention to protect farmers from the negative effects of production mandates in other states. First Vice President Mark McHargue says the best example is California’s ban on egg production in crates.
They also passed a related resolution asking Congress to strengthen the Interstate Commerce clause. He says they don’t want restrictions on ag products moving state to state.
California’s ban on egg production in crates has caused egg prices to go up substantially in the state and forced some producers to liquidate portions or shut down their laying operations.
