One of the policies passed by American Farm Bureau members this week and backed by the Iowa delegation had to do with drones or unmanned aerial systems. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says those people using drones should get written consent from farmers or landowners before flying over. He says growers using drones on their own operations shouldn’t have to have a pilot’s license or be subject to commercial regulation.
Hill says another policy Iowa delegates were pleased to see the full membership approve encourages farmers to apply conservation practices to control soil nutrient loss on acres that are eligible to receive prevent plant payments.
Hill says other important policies AFBF passed that Iowa delegates supported included the need for immigration reform and opposing the second beef check off program and favoring the 1985 act.
