Both the House and Senate have put forward their tax reform legislation. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says there are positives in both measures for farmers and ranchers. He says they’re monitoring the process closely and want to see meaningful tax reform approved.
He says two of their top priorities for tax reform is making sure stepped up basis is in the final bill as well as repeal of the estate tax.
Dux expects quick movement in the House and slower going in the Senate where there have been several amendments already offered.
Dux thinks there’s a decent chance of getting the final tax reform measure to the President by the end of the year. He says if that doesn’t happen there will be a lot of pressure on Congress to get it done early next year.
