The economic downturn in the Western Corn Belt covers most if not all sectors of agriculture. Dave Miller, Director of Research and Commodity Services for the Iowa Farm Bureau says every commodity has been hit from corn to soybeans to hogs and cattle.

He says part of the reasons for the economic drop is tied to large crops globally.

Miller says some type of adverse weather will have to occur to help bring the ag economy up.

Miller says you don’t often get five years in a row without some kind of inclement weather impacting agriculture.
