Farm Bureau Official Says Farm Bill Will Take Time To Implement

The Farm Bill is expected to be voted on in the House today.  Mary Kay Thatcher Director of Public Policy with the American farm Bureau says once passed and signed by the President it will take several months to implement.

She says the new rules will include a lower farm program payment limit than in the 2008 Farm Bill.

The actively engaged definition will also be revised by USDA.

Iowa Senator Grassley was disappointed in the payment limit provision and the fact that USDA will define actively engaged.  He has long been a proponent of fixing the loopholes on payment limits and says this is a watered down version.
