Minnesota state lawmakers have wrapped up their 2020 session and there were several positives coming out of it for the state’s farmers and ranchers. That’s according to Josie Lonnetti, Associate Public Policy Director for the Minnesota Farm Bureau. Lonnetti says several of their priority measures were approved including the omnibus ag policy and supplemental ag finance bills.
She says two pieces of unfinished business they would have liked to see get passed included bonding and tax legislation.
Lonnetti says they’re hoping the Governor calls the legislature back into a special session in June to deal with both the tax and bonding bills.
Lonnetti says the tax measure would include making Section 179 expensing line up with federal Section 179 rules and is one of the most important issues for agriculture.
