Farm Bureau Official Hoping President Just Posturing With Tariff Threats

President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on cars from the European Union and on unspecified products from China. In the past, the President has frequently threatened tariffs. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says his group is hoping this doesn’t put any snags into our present or future trade agreements. He says farmers and ranchers need solid trade in place, especially during the recent economic downturn and the impacts of the pandemic.

He says it’s important that China follow through with its Phase One trade obligations.

Dux is hoping the latest remarks from the President are nothing more than posturing.

Dux says whether we’re entering trade pacts with China, the E.U., United Kingdom or Africa, agriculture must be a part of those discussions and any deal reached must be enforced.
