A challenge brought by the American Farm Bureau and National Pork Producers has been dismissed by a Federal Judge. The groups were seeking to block EPA’s release of public information from large farms. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says that’s concerning because it compromises personal information.
Vanderwal says Farm Bureau is considering all their options including a possible appeal which must be done within 60 days or possibly trying to get legislation enacted.
The challenge brought by Farm Bureau and NPPC came about after EPA released documents relating to the location, size and ownership of thousands of large farms to environmental advocacy groups through a FOIA request.
