South Dakota lawmakers have advanced legislation to support Precision Ag Program improvements at South Dakota State University. SDSU is working on upgrading their buildings on campus for their Precision Ag program and putting together different funding sources. South Dakota Farm Bureau Lobbyist Mike Held says the State House voted overwhelmingly last week to advance the measure.
He says besides seeking state funding assistance, SDSU has also been able to raise some private funds through various donations.
Held says Farm Bureau supports the legislation and says the benefits for upgrading the precision ag buildings and program at SDSU are numerous for students, and production agriculture, as well as the state.
Held says if the Precision Ag Legislation reaches final passage and is signed by the Governor it will rank right up with passage the previous session of the funding for the ADRDL Lab at SDSU.
