Minnesota Farm Bureau members like some of the provisions called for in Governor Tim Walz’s budget proposal. Farm Bureau Public Policy Director Amber Hanson Glaeser says while they like the Governor’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure is studying the 20 cent gas tax increase he’s calling for to fund it.

She says the gas tax increase is a political charged issue that the Republican Controlled State Senate is calling a non starter. Glaser says the Governor did have several proposals in his budget beneficial for farmers and ranchers including some tax relief.

Glaeser says her group’s members are glad the Governor is calling for additional funding to help with Rural Mental Health.

She says Farm Bureau members are pleased the Governor backs Section 179 tax conformity and wants to put funding to increase rural broadband access.
