The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has clarified how it conducts enforcement activities on small farms. Under their new memorandum, OSHA has exempted farmers from storing their own grain on their own operations. Nebraska Farm Bureau ‘s director of National Affairs Jordan (dukes) Dux says OSHA recognized their earlier mistake and corrected it after being called on the carpet by farm state Senators.
Dux says his group is pleased OSHA is going forward with this new memorandum and is hoping they won’t have to challenge them in the future.
While OSHA won’t regulate farmers who store grain on their own operations, they will regulate those producers who store other farmers grains on their farms
