Farm Bureau Leaders Call for TPA

Nebraska Farm Bureau leaders are calling on Congress to take prompt action and grant the President Trade Promotion Authority. Farm Bureau’s National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says allowing the President the power to negotiate trade deals with an up or down vote of Congress is critical in getting needed pending Free Trade Deals approved. He says despite some opposition from the President’s own party, TPA needs to be granted.

Dux says without TPA other countries won’t come to the table on agreeing to trade.

Dux says the argument raised by anti TPA members of Congress that the South Korean FTA hasn’t worked is a separate issue from TPA. He says other deals with Panama and Columbia have worked well.
