Representatives from China, Australia, Singapore and other Pacific Rim countries are negotiating this week for a trade agreement that could potentially take the place of the Trans Pacific Partnership. Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap says the U.S. can’t let the TPP stand idle any longer, Congress needs to get moving and get it approved.
He says if the U.S. doesn’t take advantage of entering into trade agreements they stand to lose market share that’s difficult if not impossible to retrieve.
Paap says by dragging their feet on approving TPP, Congress is hurting the U.S. in a number of ways.
The Regional Comprehensive Partnership agreement being considered by the far east countries would exclude the U.S. and include China. The RCEP if ratified would include 16 nations and 3.4 billion people.
