The Nebraska Farm Bureau foundation has awarded 10 teachers with funds in support of agricultural education and FFA programs in the state. Foundation Executive Director Megahn Schafer says they’ve provided around $10,000 through their teacher retention program and about $15,000 for student teaching scholarships.

She says these funds are helping address the shortage of ag educators in Nebraska and assists in keeping young people remain in the state.

Schafer says the criteria they use to determine who gets awarded the teacher retention grants is fairly simple.

She says in addition to the ag teacher retention and ag teacher scholarship programs, they’re also partnering with FFA chapters across the state to get more ag education in the schools and communities.
