Families Feeding Families is hosting an agvocacy event in Yankton on Saturday, April 13. The newly formed group wants to build awareness about the importance of modern animal agriculture in Yankton County and the state. Gayville farmer Jim Petrick is part of the grassroots initiative of area farm families and says they want to use the evening to motivate farmers to tell their story.

He says farmers are proud of what they do and are using practices on their farms that are based on sound science, but that image isn’t always portrayed correctly especially in social media.

Petrick says the “Farm Families Speak Up!” event starts at 5pm and will feature a meal of South Dakota grown products, a speaker, auction and time for the public to meet their farm neighbors.
