The James River that flows north to south across eastern South Dakota, has had a problem with erosion, and trees falling into the river for many years.
Dave Bartel, Manager of the James River Water Development District, says now would be a good time to attempt to pull some of those out…..
Bartel says there could be serious problems in the future if those trees are not removed…..
The mouth of the river, where it empties into the Missouri River had also become clogged with trees and sand bars.
Bartel says it would be very expensive to attempt to open that up…..
Bartel says they will continue to work on cleanup programs all along the river.
