Revenues for the State of Iowa have fallen below estimates for the last several months, and could lead to a budget crunch for the 2016 legislature.
Revenues were estimated to grow at about a five percent rate for the year, but tax collections are up about three percent.
Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull says dropping farm prices are starting to hit home…..

Feenstra says lawmakers may have to talk about program cuts….

The gas tax in Iowa was increased by ten cents last year. Feenstra says in light of that, he doubts there will be much support for any more taxes….

The revenue estimate in December is critical as that is the base for the new budget that will be considered next year.
