Fair Trade Headlines World Meat Congress

Last week representatives of more than 45 countries were in Dallas for the World Meat Congress. One of those was Nebraska Pork Producers Association President Darin Uhlir. He says it was the first time in over 20 years the event was held in the United States and most meats were represented.

He says the livestock producers he talked to from around the globe all have similar challenges in marketing their product.

Uhler says the farmers and ranchers from the various countries are watching trade talks and share the same goal of wanting free trade and open markets.

Uhlir says many of the producers attending are also trying to figure out the best way to reach their customers. He says they want to be able to market to the various generations of consumers and be able to meet their needs.
