A big announcement for Nebraska. Facebook will build a data center near Papillion. Mayor David Black says the city played a big role in history, connecting the country.
The new center will be located on a 146 acre site about two miles north of Springfield on Highway 50. There will be two buildings on each side of that highway connected by a tunnel.
Black says Facebook is a welcome addition to the community.
Facebook Vice President of infrastructure Tom Furlong says they are committed to powering the new data center and connectivity with the smallest footprint possible.
The new Facebook data center will have good company in Sarpy county as there are several already located there including Cabela’s, Fidelity Investments and Yahoo.
