One of the insect problems rearing its ugly head this year is the increasing infestation of corn root worms in Minnesota. University of Minnesota Extension Integrated Pest Management Specialist Bruce Potter says managing those pests will be a challenge.
He says besides considering treatment options, producers may want to look at rotating out of corn for a year.
Potter says producers should look at the most effective and strongest chemicals they can use to control corn rootworms.
Potter advises growers to keep scouting their fields for the corn rootworms and also to look for any possible signs of disease pressure and note those findings as they put together their management plans for 2022.
