Extension Agronomist Says Harvest Delayed A Bit In Northwest Iowa

Extension Agronomist Says Harvest Delayed A Bit In Northwest Iowa

Fields have been and in some cases remain quite soggy in several crop fields in the Northern Plains. Farmers in Northwest Iowa are a bit behind normal with their harvest progress. That’s according to Iowa State University Extension Agronomist Joel DeJong.

He says how long it’ll take to dry out enough to harvest depends on each field and how it drains.

DeJong says he’s concerned about the condition of the Soybean Pods and has seen some corn stalk issues due to the wetness.

DeJong says he cautions growers that once conditions improve for harvest not to rush and get in a hurry because that’s when farm accidents occur and in some cases quite rapidly.
