A provision reauthorizing the Export Import Bank has been attached to the Highway Bill. The House is expected to take up that legislation when they return this week. Prior to the recess the Senate approved a long term highway measure. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says having the Export import Bank reauthorized could be helpful for producers.

He says it remains to be seen whether having the Export Import provision attached will help or hurt passage of the highway legislation.

Vanderwal is hoping the House and Senate will agree on a long term highway bill as that would benefit agriculture and that lawmakers come up with the right funding package for the program.
