An Environmental Working Group Study released this week shows significant soil erosion loss in Iowa this year. E-W-G’s Senior Vice President of Ag and Natural Resources Craig Cox says soil erosion loss is a major problem for water quality, hurts farm production and damages the environment.
Cox says there was evidence of farming conservation practices that have helped recently but more needs to be done to reduce soil erosion.
Cox says it’s unfortunate that federal policy makers have cut back on funding for conservation and CRP has faded to only 25 million acres nationwide.
