The Environmental Working Group is standing by its recent report the Rich Get Richer that claims 50 American billionaires are receiving farm subsidies. EWG Ag Policy Director Colin O Neil says their report indicates some well-known individual pocketing those payments.
He also says those criticizing their report are missing the point. And that it’s difficult to identify those who are getting large government payments.
O’Neil says a recent government report also shows some wealthy individuals getting large crop insurance payments.
O’Neil says his group doesn’t think the present crop insurance program which is already bloated with federal funds should be benefitting millionaires and billionaires at the expense of producers and taxpayers.
