Environmental Working Group members are voicing concern with how the USDA market facilitation payments are going out. EWG Vice President of Government Affairs Scott Faber says those payments ended up being doled out to city residents in some cases.

He says the market facilitation program payments intended to help farmers and ranchers negatively impacted by the trade war is being diverted to other recipients.

Faber says it’s imperative that when the second round of market facilitation payments are distributed that the methodology is changed to ensure they go to those who must deserve them.

The top five states receiving market facilitation payments include: Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, Indiana and Illinois.
