The Environmental Working Group has concerns with Ag Secretary-nominee Sonny Perdue, most of it related to his dealings while serving as Governor of Georgia. EWG Ag Policy Director Colin O’Neil says there are many questions about Perdue’s past record.

He says there are also concerns about whether or not Perdue was actively engaged in farming when he received government farm payments.

O’Neil says Perdue needs to be held accountable for the conflict of interest that will be created due to the agricultural companies he owns that stand to benefit from him serving as Ag Secretary.

O’Neil says his group will weigh in with Senators during Perdue’s confirmation hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
