EU Will Not Renew Anti-dumping Duties on U.S. Ethanol Imports

This week the European Commission decided not to renew anti-dumping duties on imports of U.S. ethanol. The Renewable Fuels Association, Growth Energy and the U.S. Grains Council are pleased with the action. RFA President and CEO Geoff (jeff) Cooper says they’ve been battling that duty for five plus years and it shut off the E.U. market to U.S. ethanol.

He says it’s great to regain that market, although it won’t be at the level it once was.

Cooper says it’s positive the European Commission didn’t cave into pressure from their own ethanol industry and removed the duties that weren’t justified.

Cooper says the decision comes at a good time as the U.S. ethanol industry has been dealing with reduced demand and the impacts of the trade war with China.
