Ethanol Supports Want Law Change to Allow Summer E15 Sales

A group of certified mechanics, engine performance experts and professional fishermen joined Fuels America members this week in asking federal lawmakers to boost biofuel blends. Joel Hennen, President and owner of Hennen’s Auto Service in Shakopee, Minnesota offers 9 different fuel options for consumers. He says the biggest legislative help for him is getting a measure passed allowing the sale of E15 and some other higher blends year round.

He says the current law that doesn’t allow sale of E15, E20 and E30 during the summer causes confusion for consumers and is a nightmare for those selling the fuel.

Hennen says one of the myths being circulated is that higher biofuel blends harm engines, which he says isn’t true.

Hennen says about 30-percent of the fuel that’s sold in the Twin Cities is E15.
