Ethanol Plant, Natural Gas Pipeline Planned for Napa Junction

Plans are underway for the development of an ethanol plant at Napa Junction northwest of Yankton.

Matt Winsand, general manager of Dakota Plains, says they moving rapidly..

The Yankton County Planning & Zoning Commission approved a conditional use permit for the plant site.

Winsand says they have plans being drawn up for the plant..

Natural gas is needed to operate the ethanol plant. Winsand says they approached Northwestern Energy, Mid American Energy and Northern Natural Gas about building a pipeline to their location. He says those estimates were very high…

Winsand says they could see some site work begin next summer, with an eighteen-month construction time frame.
