Ethanol Officials Pleased With Decision on EU Import Tariffs

Officials with the Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy are pleased with a European court decision that nullifies the European Union’s anti-dumping duty on all ethanol imported from the United States. RFA Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says the European duty, which was in place for over three years, cut off all ethanol imports from the U.S.

He says the amount of the duty is significant in terms of cost to the U.S. ethanol industry.

Cooper is hoping the E.U. doesn’t appeal the decision, but they have two months to make that determination.

Cooper says the duty never should have been assessed in the first place and the court gave a very common sense ruling.
