Texas Senator Ted Cruz who has problems with the RFS has obtained a future meeting with the President to talk about his concerns. Biofuel Representatives are monitoring the situation partly because of Cruz’s support for oil industry interests. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Todd Sneller says he thinks the talk will center around renewable identification numbers, the amount that oil refineries are required to blend into renewable fuels.
He’s hoping the President will come to a logical conclusion concerning the RFS following the meeting.
Sneller says Midwest Governors are monitoring the meeting and will continue weighing in with the President on the need to support policy that backs the RFS.
Sneller says he doesn’t think the meeting between Cruz and the President will result in any changes to the 2018 RFS volume obligations because those are already well established. He also doesn’t think there will be a change in the point of obligation under the RFS.
