Ethanol Groups Urge E15 Action to Lower Fuel Prices While Food Verses Fuel Reignites

With gas prices approaching record levels due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine biofuels groups are urging the Biden administration to look at ethanol to lower prices.  This comes at the same time the food verses fuel debate is heating up again.  Renewable Fuels Association CEO Geoff Cooper says they don’t think the Renewable Fuels Standard is in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, biofuels groups are asking the administration to allow E15 use in the summer months to provide some relief for the high prices at the pump.

Cooper says EPA can use emergency authority under the Clean Air Act to temporarily allow E15 use.

However, he says with the Supreme Court ruling against year-round E15 it will take federal legislation to make year-round E15 permanent.
