Friday, EPA officials announced they’ll be issuing final R-F-S volume standards for 2014 through 2016 by the end of the year. American Coalition for Ethanol Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says it’s a good start. However, EPA says the 2014 volume will be based on actual production.
Jennings says EPA will release the 2015 and 2016 volume proposal by June 1. He says the most important thing that the agency base their volumes on the proper market information.
Jennings says EPA has had sufficient time to get these volume numbers out and their Director of the Office of Transportation and Air Quality needs to spend more time talking about the positive aspects of the RFS rather than complaining.
EPA made their announcement as a proposed settlement with the American Petroleum Institute and the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers over deadlines for issuing the annual RFS requirements.
