Ethanol Board Administrator Responds To Attacks On The RFS

Several groups including the American Energy Alliance, Citizens Against Government Waste and the Heartland Institute have sent a letter to President Trump calling for a change or waiving of the Renewable Fuel Standard. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Roger Berry says their attacks on the RFS are unfounded and it should be noted that many of those groups were founded by the petroleum industry.

He says recent studies show the coronavirus can be carried by air pollution and biofuels help battle that problem.

Berry says the groups says that waiving the RFS could divert critical resources from needed sanitizer production. He says that doesn’t make much sense as ethanol is being used for sanitizer which battles the coronavirus.

Berry also says that waiving the RFS won’t help anybody as long as there’s a pandemic and an oil price war going on.
