This week, the Environmental Protection Agency extended the compliance deadline for refiners to meet their Renewable Volume Obligations. EPA is extending the RFS compliance deadline for the 2019 compliance year and submission of reports for the 2019 compliance year for small refineries. The new deadlines are November 30, 2021 and June 1, 2022. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Roger Berry is disappointed with the extension.

He says the oil refiners are using the COVID 19 pandemic as an excuse to attack the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Berry says the biofuels industry has suffered just as much as the oil industry has from the pandemic if not more so.

Berry says what the refineries and oil industry are doing is just creating more uncertainty for biofuels which in turn limits or turns back investors.
