The Nebraska Network for Beginning Farmers and Ranchers, the Farm and Ranch Project of Legal Aid of Nebraska, and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture have come together to offer a series of workshops and clinics for producers wishing to learn more about estate planning. Angie Miller is an attorney for the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program with the Legal Aid of Nebraska says it’s a two-part learning process.
After hosting a workshop in Pierre this summer, the follow-up clinic will be held on December 17th at 9:30 am at the South Dakota State Extension Regional Center. Miller says the clinics dive deeper into the issues associated with passing a business to the next generation.
She says sitting down and discussing the future is the hardest part when it comes to estate planning.
A workshop will also be held in Yankton on December 18th at the Summit Center beginning at 9:30 with a follow-up clinic planned for the coming spring. Anyone interested in either event in Pierre or Yankton is asked to call 1-800-464-0258 to register. Registration is free.
