The Environmental Protection Agency has sent the final 2017 Renewable Fuel Standard proposal over to the Office of Management and Budget for review. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says the EPA’s original volume obligation proposal missed the mark and he’s hoping they’ve adjusted it.
He’s pleased the EPA is moving the RFS proposal faster than they did the last couple of years, so they should be able to meet their statutory deadline for RFS volumes.
Shaw says it’s critical the EPA set the RFS volumes at the statutory levels so the industry has certainty and can provide consumers the biofuels they’re demanding.
The final RFS rule could be released within the next 30 days, depending on how long the OMB analysis takes.
